Danya International Transfers Africa Business Unit to Plan International USA
Silver Spring, Maryland (May 2, 2016)—Danya International, Inc. (Danya), a communications, research, and technology company, confirms the transfer of its Africa business unit to Plan International USA. Finalized in February of this year, this transfer "further strengthens Plan's technical proficiency in social and behavior change; monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning; use of information and communications technology; and capacity building of local, national, and regional organizations," according to Plan's press release.
Danya first collaborated with Plan USA in 2015, on the Nilinde Project, a $41 million USAID-funded initiative to improve the welfare and protection of the most vulnerable households affected by HIV/AIDS by reducing economic vulnerability and empowering parents to make investments that will improve the health and well-being of orphans and vulnerable children.
Danya founded our Africa business unit in 2008 in Kenya. Our in-country work reached more than 10 million people across East and Southern Africa with public health, agriculture, education, and food security programming. Our Vice President for the Africa Region Aaron Sundsmo joined Plan to lead the integration of Danya's capabilities into Plan's programs, which work across 51 countries.
